Qi Gong and Acupressure to Support Healthy Digestion and Decision Making (Kyoto, Japan)

19 May , 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm JST

Improve digestion to strengthen your brain power!

Our digestive system is often referred to as our “second brain,” because it is intimately connected to the brain. This connection is of great benefit, as it allows communication from the digestive system to the brain to happen instantaneously. However, when our digestive system is in an unhealthy state, the brain’s capacity for focus and clarity weakens and our mental and emotional health diminish.

In the Chinese Medicine system, Spring is related to the element of Wood. Wood is the element that encourages and supports growth. It is about doing and pursuing. The qualities of the Wood element are beneficial for motivating us and keeping us motivated. However, the Wood element is often overemphasized in these modern times. We are overstimulated by our constant attention to our technological devices, and the constant barrage of advertisements that tell us we need to be doing more. Because of this, more and more people are mentally becoming stressed out, physically feeling overworked, and emotionally feeling ungrounded.

Our digestion suffers from this stress.

Stress negatively impacts our digestive system. This results in all kinds of gastrointestinal disorders, from chronic indigestion, to acid reflux, to Irritable Bowel Syndrome to peptic ulcers. These illnesses all have a major impact on the function of our brain. Our ability to make consistently good and clear decisions considerably lessens, even about the smallest things, like what the best meal choice would be from a menu in the first place!

Learn how to protect yourself from overworking and overthinking.

The ancient wisdom of Qi Gong exercises and acupressure self care are powerful treatments to alleviate our modern ailments. Both are easy to learn and to implement in your daily life. By learning how the digestive system affects the brain and the qualities of the Wood element, you will understand how you can make simple lifestyle adjustments to support a more clear and lucid state of mind, more physical ease and more emotional calm. All of this leads to better decisions. Better decisions lead to ease, contentment and happiness.

How do Qi Gong and Acupressure work?

Qi Gong and acupressure work together to facilitate a stronger and clearer flow of Qi (pronounced “chee”) in your body. Qi is the subtle energetic vitality that supports the physiology of the body – in Yoga it is called prana. Qi flows within all life, including all of the natural world around us. When our Qi is flowing well, it is like a powerful river of radiant health from which our physiology drinks deeply. From an unimpeded and balanced flow of Qi, our physical, mental and emotional centers settle into clarity and ease. This is because a balanced flow of Qi both supports and improves the balance of the entire nervous system.

I look forward to sharing this practical art and science with you, so you too may experience a life that is less stressful, and feel ease in digestion and joy in decision making each day.
