Qi Gong for Strengthening the Immune System to Cope Well with the Hot & Humid Summer Season (Kyoto, Japan)
9 June @ 3:00 pm - 5:30 pm JST
Keep cool and refreshed during the hot and steamy summer with simple movement and self-care practices.
Summer and late summer is the time of year in Japan when the temperatures rise to sweltering and the rain falls often. In Chinese Medicine these seasonal patterns make us more susceptible to the pathogens of heat and dampness. These pathogens can rapidly weaken the immune system. When the immune system is weakened, various stagnations form in the body. These stagnations become the root of disease of all kinds.
In this workshop, learn how to strengthen your immune system with the ancient wisdom of Qi Gong exercises and acupressure self care. This combination will be easy to learn and implement in your daily life. We will also discuss the elements of the summer and late summer seasons – Fire and Earth – and how to use this knowledge to make simple lifestyle adjustments to prevent heat exhaustion and extreme humidity from taking root in our bodies.
Qi Gong and acupressure work together to facilitate a stronger and clearer flow of Qi (pronounced “chee”) in your body. Qi is the subtle energetic vitality that supports the physiology of the body – in Yoga it is called prana. Qi flows within all life, including all of the natural world around us. When our Qi is flowing well, it is like a powerful river of radiant health from which our physiology drinks deeply. From an unimpeded and balanced flow of Qi, our bodies can easily ward off disease and more rapidly recover from many pathogens. This is because a balanced flow of Qi both supports and improves the function of our immune system.
I look forward to sharing this practical art and science with you, so you too may experience better health and increased vitality overall, and keep cool and refreshed this summer.
